Online safety for your child, in plain English
My 1st Cyber Awareness teaches children and teenagers to spot online tricks through a game: Security Sam the guard dog explains, Sly the fox tries tricks, and your child catches him out. It's free, with no sign-up and no adverts.
Pick the right programme
- Ages 4–7: Short stories, games and quizzes. Great to do together with a parent or carer.
- Ages 8–12: Real scams, fake links, gaming, social media, AI and your data rights.
- Ages 13–16: Account takeovers, scams and money mules, deepfakes, hacking and the law, and your data rights.
- Ages 16–18: Ready for adult life: identity, jobs and money scams, staying safe at work and when you move out, AI, the law at 18, and cyber careers.
Tips
- Sit with younger children for the first mission, and turn on read-aloud for pre-readers.
- Every mission has talking points for home. Find them on each programme page or in the game's For grown-ups page.
- Make it clear your child will never be in trouble for telling you about something that went wrong online.
Help and reporting (UK)
- Childline: 0800 1111, for under-19s, including Report Remove to get nude images of under-18s taken down.
- CEOP Safety Centre: to report online sexual abuse or grooming.
- Scams: forward texts to 7726 and emails to report@phishing.gov.uk. Report fraud to Report Fraud, or Police Scotland on 101.
- Emergency: if someone is in danger, call 999.
